—I DON’T WANT TO MISS ONE WORD YOU SAY
...That’s a post my publisher did on FBK with the caption, “This
book is on fire. Get yours while you
can.” Her intern, Gina, did the artwork. I thought that was incredibly kind on both
their part.

…The blog on Mentorship I wrote for Ghost Parachute received the
most acclaim and commentary of anything I’ve ever written, which is really
surprising because I don’t write non-fiction very well, and because I wasn’t
even sure if the editor would like the piece when he asked for something. Go figure.
…I hope your week begins in the most fantastic way. Mine is already taking off, and here are a
few things I like on a Monday:
"There is a sense of exhilaration that
comes from facing head-on the hard truths and saying, "We will never give
up. We will never capitulate. It might take a long time, but we will find a way
to prevail.""- Jim Collins
"The highest reward for man's toil is not what he gets for it but what he becomes by it."- John Ruskin
"Great ideals and principles do not live from generation to generation just because they are right, nor even because they have been carefully legislated. Ideas and principles continue from generation to generation only when they are built into the hearts of children as they grow up."- George S. Benson
"The most important thing I have learned over the years is the difference between taking one's work seriously and taking one's self seriously. The first is imperative, and the second disastrous."- Margaret Fontey
""But try," you urge, "the trying shall suffice; The aim, if reached or not, makes great the life: Try to be Shakespeare, leave the rest to fate!""- Robert Browning
"Nothing is ever lost by courtesy. It is the cheapest of pleasures, costs nothing, and conveys much."- Erastus Wiman
"Don't listen to anyone who tells you
that you can't do this or that. That's nonsense. Make up your mind, you'll
never use crutches or a stick, then have a go at everything. Go to school, join
in all the games you can. Go anywhere you want to. But never, never let them
persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible. - Sir Douglas Bader
was a British fighter pilot who lost both legs in a flying accident, but still
fought in World War Two. He was knighted for his work with the disabled, and
the quote above is from his talk to a 14-year-old boy who had lost a leg in a
car accident."- Sir Douglas Bader
