—REMEMBERING YOU, STANDING QUIET IN THE RAIN

Oh You

Oh you,
don’t you know
that dawn woke
early this morning,
carrying the sun
on her shoulders
as an offering,
sculpted just for you,
every tincture and
coral-colored hue yours,
the trees on alert
for your arrival,
their limbs outstretched,
leaves hoping for
the mere chance to be
brushed by you,
bees busy making
you honey, your name
ringing out as birdsong
on repeat while the
very stones you might
walk on already feel
gifted and lucky just
to bare your weight.
Oh you,
this is your day,
everything about it
overflowing with
magic and bliss,
waiting for you to
open your eyes,
take my hand and
let me show you
the short path
to love.
