—BREAKIN’ MY BACK JUST TO KNOW YOUR NAME

…How many irrational exits can one guy take?

…And how many days can a guy still be nauseous, hoping not to spew on himself?

…You live in the country and you’re going to experience your fair share of power outages, like the one yesterday. The worst, though, is when the internet goes out, like it is right now.

…I’m trying to only take on fat books now, since I’m at 95.

…I wish I was a better morning person, but I wake up so early anymore that there’s no one around to talk to even if I wanted to.

…I’m really very sorry Matthew Perry died so early, but was he like the pope or something?

…“A morning is a symphony; for it to be there, or not, depends on your presence.” Thich Nhat Hanh

…If I never look back, that means I’m going forward, right?

…If I swallow more than speak, it helps quite a bit.

…It’s another “Dane Weekend.” Alert the media.

…Rejection is the worst thing ever. Almost worse than death. But if it happens enough, you sort of get used to it.

…I’ve got a feeling my butt’s going to be really sore again after Sunday. But it’s just a feeling.

…I supposed there’s a lot to emphasize about with regard to Britney Spears, but genuinely, why care that much?

…I wish my watch would stop recommending that I take a walk.

Does it not know that I’m right here?

…In almost everything I’ve read of late, which is a lot, men are the bad guys. Like, really bad. And, well, maybe they/we are.

…It was “Day of the Dead” the other day and it sure as hell felt like it.

…“I can’t answer that question right now,” is always the smart response.

…I don’t even think Kayne has as much Kanye West stuck in his head as I do. Lucky fella.

…I wonder if white people are the only ones to use the word, “fella.”

…“Spring forward, Fall back” on your ass, so you can get your shit together.”

…There’s only ever been one.

…“Too big” can mean anything.

…I must have been the most romantic 9-year-old ever born, or else the dumbest, reciting poetry to the library walls at lunch time.

…Mickey Purcell. Now there’s a story, or forty.

…I had an A+ in art while living for a spell in Boise, then I moved to Bismarck, ND. The new Art teacher thought I’d somehow appropriated my good grade from a shyster. She essentially said I wasn’t creative. That was decades ago, yet I still recall the smirk on her face.

…“Because love never says, ‘This is the last.’” Thich Nhat Hanh

…My son will never talk about the weather, hates talking about it, says it defines a generation, and a paradigm of boredom and small talk. He’s right.

…But now it’s blood pressure and balance and it’s serious shit.

…In like, 5th grade, we all got to make rockets made of balsa wood with actual engines. It was a real venture from the norm. I painted mine blue (royal blue) and yellow, but it blew up in my hands before launching, and since then I’ve been distrustful of anything having to do with flight.

…In P.E., in like, 9th grade, there was this drill where you had to climb up a rope attached to the ceiling. There were knots along the way to give you harbor. Almost every kid made it to the top and back, but I never even got off the ground.

I don’t know much about geometry…

…I think there’s a legitimate reason most people don’t trust themselves.

…“He came home from war with a party in his head and idea for a fireworks display.” Tom Waits

…I almost never say too much, but I always seem to do it here.

…It’s still hard missing Lucy, and I know I need to get over it, but she’s still everywhere.

…Death is one of the most important and foundational pieces of being alive, yet it’s still fucking awful.

…We didn’t come here for a haircut.

…Right now, I could use a Snicker’s bar, if you know what I mean.

…I’ve never hit a person in my life. But I’ve been hit.

…I love the sound of the rain, like a pianist tapping away madly, as if someone in outer space can hear them.

…It’s a shame I never saw Mac when he was still alive. Or perhaps it’s a blessing.

…I’m getting better at being patient, though it’s still a bitch at times.

…You can call me a lot of things, but you can’t call be a bad father, or friend.

…“What were you thinking?” is a good question to ask yourself before somebody else does.

…No one deserves a beating like that. No one.

….Nostalgia is a crutch, is a balm, is the truth time-stamped, but you can’t always trust your memory.

…I never meant for this to happen like it did, but…

,,,,“How are you feeling?”

…“Respectfully, (…).”

…Maybe today’s the day, or maybe it’s just another day. We’ll see.
