-- THE WAVES ARE HIGH. THEY CRASH, HELLO, ARE YOU THERE?
…There were plenty of bombs going off yesterday
afternoon and well into the evening.
Shock and Awe on the lake. I don’t
get it, why someone would spend at least five thousand dollars on fireworks,
but to each his own. I just wonder what
the fish thought about all that.
…I don’t think you’re supposed to wear a
bracelet while bathing, but there you go.
…Sometimes it feels pretty good to be wrong
about everything, or just having permission to lose yourself without worrying
whether you’re wrong or not.
...Sometimes we’re only given two choices and
neither of them is perfect.
…Lately my doubt is everywhere, even when I
know something to be true.
…It’s coming down to crunch time—deciding on a
second dog or not. Labradoodles are sure
damn cute, but they’re kind of big and, well, Lucy’s not. What are your thoughts?
…You’re looking awfully skinny. Be sure to eat, please.
…I’m breaking apart again so that I might carry
us somewhere.
…No matter how fast you are, you can’t outrun a
gun.
…Someone told me memory is a choice, but I’m
not sure about that.
…The most useful thing a person can do with
empty hands is hold on.
…I know there are some bad men out there, but
reading what women writers think about people of my gender kind of mentally
puts me on the defensive, as if I’m guilty by association, guilty because I happen
to have a penis.
…In the dim, everything looks like the same,
like everyone’s sleeping except me.
…I remember it all, because how can you forget
anything about the day you first felt whole?
…The thing about beauty is it’s only beautiful
outside itself.
…Why was
I even born? Who doesn’t ask
themselves that at least a few times a week?
…Sometimes you don’t have a say in how you’re
taken apart.
…I’ve written at a pretty good clip
lately. Nothing like in my peak, but I’ve
been productive. Bear with me a while longer
and I’ll post some pieces. For now, I
just want to talk to you some more. I
hope that’s okay?
…Do you remember the happiest day of your life? The saddest?
Did they happen to involve the same person? Which one do you remember more, which memory
do you return to most frequently?
…Questions, questions. Just curious.
…How’s the water this time of year? Still cold, or just how you like it?
